Boxtect Technologies, LLC

End User License Agreement

Covers BoxBelt, BoxCoin, Boxnook. Version 1.1, last updated September 29, 2026.

Please read this agreement. By signing in to BoxCoin or Boxnook, or by installing or using BoxBelt, you accept it. The short version: the software is licensed to you, not sold; your photos and records stay yours; AI suggestions are estimates you must check; and the software comes without warranty.

1. Acceptance of this agreement

This End User License Agreement (the "Agreement") is a legal agreement between you and Boxtect Technologies, LLC ("Boxtect", "we", "us") for the use of BoxBelt, BoxCoin and Boxnook, including their software, web applications, updates and documentation (together, the "Software").

By installing, signing in to, or otherwise using any part of the Software you agree to be bound by this Agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software. If you use the Software on behalf of a company or another person, you confirm that you have the authority to accept this Agreement for them, and "you" then includes them as well.

2. What the Software is

BoxBelt is software that runs on a Raspberry Pi computer you own. It drives conveyor belts and cameras to photograph coins and other collectibles, stores the photographs and records on that computer, and can send them to your BoxCoin account.

BoxCoin is a hosted web application for recording and organising a collection: items, photographs, lots, groups, storage locations, values and reports.

Boxnook is a hosted web application for curating collectibles for sale, researching and describing them, receiving offers, and publishing listings to marketplaces such as eBay through an account you connect.

The three apps work together but each may be used on its own. Features differ between them and may change over time.

Boxtect licenses the Software. The Boxnook storefront and marketplace are operated by Boxnook, LLC, an affiliate of Boxtect, which is the seller for pieces sold from its own inventory and the curator for consigned pieces, as described in section 10. Where this Agreement says "Boxtect" it means Boxtect Technologies, LLC; where it says "Boxnook, LLC" it means that company.

3. License

Subject to this Agreement, Boxtect grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use the Software for your own purposes.

For BoxBelt this means you may install and run it on Raspberry Pi devices that you own or control, in as many copies as you need for your own use. For BoxCoin and Boxnook this means you may access and use them through the accounts issued to you.

Boxtect may provide updates, patches or new versions. They are part of the Software and are covered by this Agreement unless they come with their own terms.

4. What you may not do

You may not copy, sell, rent, lease, sublicense, distribute or otherwise make the Software available to third parties, except that you may let people who work with you use BoxBelt on your own devices or use the accounts issued to you.

You may not modify, translate, decompile, reverse engineer or attempt to derive the source code of the Software, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits this despite this restriction.

You may not remove or alter any proprietary notices, interfere with the security or operation of the Software or of Boxtect’s servers, access data that does not belong to you, use automated tools to extract data at scale, share account credentials, or use the Software for any unlawful purpose or to build a competing product or service.

5. Accounts

BoxCoin and Boxnook require an account. You must provide accurate information, keep your password and any connected credentials secure, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use. You are responsible for everything done through your account.

BoxBelt can store the sign-in tokens for your BoxCoin account on the Raspberry Pi so it can send coins without asking you to sign in each time. Anyone with access to that device can use those tokens. Keep the device secure, and sign out in BoxBelt’s Settings if the device leaves your control.

6. Your content and data

Photographs, descriptions, records, prices, notes and everything else you create with or upload to the Software remain yours. You are responsible for having the rights to that content and for its accuracy.

So that the Software can work, you grant Boxtect a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, display and transmit your content for the purpose of providing, securing, maintaining and improving the Software, including sending it to the service providers described in section 8. We do not sell your content.

BoxBelt keeps its photographs and records on your own device. Boxtect does not receive them unless you choose to send them to BoxCoin. You are responsible for backing up your device.

7. Artificial intelligence features

Parts of the Software use artificial intelligence to identify items from photographs and to suggest names, descriptions, metals, weights, dates, grades, conditions and values. These suggestions are estimates produced automatically. They can be incomplete or wrong, and they are not appraisals, authentication, grading opinions, investment advice or tax advice.

You must review AI-generated information before relying on it, publishing it, listing an item for sale or making any decision based on it. You are responsible for the accuracy of anything you publish.

To provide these features, photographs and item details you submit are sent to third-party AI providers for processing, currently including Google’s Gemini models. Their handling of that data is governed by their own terms.

8. Third-party services

The Software relies on services operated by others: cloud hosting, authentication, database and file storage (currently Supabase), AI providers (currently Google), and marketplace platforms (currently eBay). Boxtect does not control those services and is not responsible for their availability, performance, changes, security or terms.

If you connect an eBay account to Boxnook, you authorise Boxnook to create and manage listings, offers and inventory on your behalf through eBay’s programming interfaces. Your use of eBay remains subject to eBay’s user agreement and policies, and eBay’s fees are yours to pay. Boxnook does not receive your eBay password; you can revoke its access at any time through eBay.

BoxBelt runs on hardware made by others, including Raspberry Pi computers, cameras, motor drivers and conveyor belts. Their warranties and instructions apply to that hardware.

9. Hardware, motors and safety (BoxBelt)

BoxBelt controls motorised conveyor belts. Moving belts, rollers and motors can pinch, catch or injure. You are responsible for installing, wiring, powering, guarding, supervising and maintaining the hardware safely and in accordance with its manufacturers’ instructions and applicable regulations.

The Software is not a safety device. Belts may start, stop or change speed unexpectedly, including when a network connection drops, the device restarts or the Software fails. Do not rely on the Software’s stop buttons as the only means of stopping the machinery; keep hands, hair, clothing and tools away from the belts while power is applied, and disconnect power before servicing.

Boxtect is not responsible for damage to coins or other items, to your hardware or property, or for injury, arising from the operation of the belts, cameras or related equipment.

10. Sales and marketplace transactions (Boxnook)

The Boxnook storefront is operated by Boxnook, LLC. When you buy a piece through the storefront, the seller is Boxnook, LLC for pieces from its own inventory, or the consigning collector for a consigned piece with Boxnook, LLC acting as curator, as shown on the listing. Offers, acceptance, payment, shipping, returns and any dispute are matters between that seller and the buyer and are arranged outside the Software; the Software records them but takes no payment.

Listings that Boxnook publishes to eBay are made under the eBay seller account that the curator connects. At present that is a personal seller account rather than an account of Boxnook, LLC. The seller named on eBay is the party to those sales, and eBay’s user agreement and policies govern them.

Boxtect Technologies, LLC licenses the Software only. It is not a party to any sale, does not guarantee that any item will sell or reach any price, and does not authenticate or grade items.

If you sell through the Software, you are responsible for describing items truthfully, honouring offers you accept, shipping, returns, disputes, taxes, and for complying with the rules of any marketplace you use and with the laws that apply to selling collectibles, precious metals and currency where you are.

11. Fees

Unless otherwise agreed with you in writing, the Software is currently provided without a license fee. Boxtect may introduce or change fees for future versions or features with reasonable notice. Fees charged by third parties, such as marketplace, hosting, AI or hardware costs, are your responsibility.

12. Ownership

The Software, including its code, design, text, graphics and logos, is owned by Boxtect Technologies, LLC and its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. The names BoxBelt, BoxCoin, Boxnook and Boxtect are trademarks of Boxtect Technologies, LLC or its affiliates. Except for the license granted in section 3, no rights are transferred to you.

If you send us suggestions or feedback, you agree that we may use them without any obligation to you.

13. Privacy

We collect and use personal information as described in the applicable privacy policy, which is available within the Software. In short: account information and the content you store in BoxCoin and Boxnook are held with our hosting provider and protected by access controls; BoxBelt keeps its data on your own device; photographs and item details are shared with AI providers only to provide the features you use; and we do not sell personal information.

14. Changes to the Software and to this Agreement

Boxtect may add, change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Software at any time. We will try to give notice of changes that remove functionality you rely on, but we are not obliged to maintain any feature.

We may change this Agreement. The current version, with its version number and date, is always shown inside the Software. If we make material changes we will show a notice in the Software. Continuing to use the Software after a change takes effect means you accept the changed Agreement.

15. Term and termination

This Agreement applies for as long as you use the Software. You may end it at any time by stopping use of the Software, uninstalling BoxBelt and closing your accounts.

Boxtect may suspend or terminate your license or accounts, with or without notice, if you breach this Agreement, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Software. Before closing an account we will try to give you a reasonable opportunity to export your data.

On termination your license ends and you must stop using the Software. Sections 6 through 20 survive termination to the extent needed to give them effect.

16. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BOXTECT DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.

In particular, Boxtect does not warrant that photographs will be usable, that items will be identified or valued correctly, that listings will comply with any marketplace’s rules, or that data will not be lost. Values of coins, bullion and collectibles change constantly and any figure shown is an estimate at a moment in time.

17. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BOXTECT, ITS AFFILIATES (INCLUDING BOXNOOK, LLC) AND THEIR OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SOFTWARE OR THIS AGREEMENT, HOWEVER CAUSED AND UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF BOXTECT AND ITS AFFILIATES FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SOFTWARE OR THIS AGREEMENT WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID BOXTECT FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US$100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these limitations. In that case they apply to the greatest extent the law allows.

18. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Boxtect, its affiliates (including Boxnook, LLC) and their owners, employees and contractors from any claims, damages, losses and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your content, your use of the Software, your operation of hardware with BoxBelt, your sales or listings, or your breach of this Agreement or of any law or third-party right.

19. Governing law and disputes

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact Boxtect and try in good faith to resolve the matter informally for at least thirty days. Any dispute that cannot be resolved that way will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and you consent to their jurisdiction, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property.

20. General

This Agreement, together with the privacy policy and any written terms for a specific purchase, is the entire agreement between you and Boxtect about the Software and replaces any earlier agreements. Boxnook, LLC is an intended beneficiary of sections 10, 16, 17 and 18. If any part of it is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign this Agreement without Boxtect’s written consent; Boxtect may assign it to a successor of its business.

You agree to comply with export and sanctions laws that apply to the Software. Nothing in this Agreement limits rights that consumer protection law gives you and that cannot be excluded by agreement.
